Black Star 37

Two months later.

Spain. Luna.

Susana pushed the door of Luna’s office open with her hips. She was carrying several reports Luna had asked for in one hand, in the other she held a can of diet coke and under her arm, pressed against her torso, a tabloid.

“Here you have the reports you asked me for.” Susana said as she laid the documents on Luna’s desk. “And here is your fix.” She mocked leaving the can beside the reports.

Luna lifted her head from the documents she was reading. “Thanks, Susi.” She said, smiling and returned her attention to the drawings.

“Mrs. Müller has phoned; she wanted to know if you can have lunch with her. She said that she understands that you’re busy, but she really wants to see you today.” Susana explained as she glanced at the screen of Luna’s computer. In response, Luna nodded ‘yes’, not raising her head.

Susana frowned slightly, clearing her throat to catch Luna’s attention. Luna lifted her head, looking at her assistant.

“Anything else?” Luna asked, locking eyes with Susana. She slowly nodded ‘yes’ but kept silent. “Come on Susi, I’m fucking busy so tell me.” She added, frowning.

Susana took a deep breath and cleared her throat.

“There’s this man. He has been calling for the last two hours non-stop.” Susana paused for a second and frowned a little. “I didn’t tell you anything before because he has been saying weird things all the time.” She explained.

Luna looked at her puzzle. “Weird things?” She asked in surprise.

“Yeah. He told me that he wanted to talk with you about street racers.” Luna frowned slightly. “He said that he’s an old friend of a bald guy you know really well.” Susana added almost in a murmur as she noticed how Luna tightened her jaw and her gaze turned cold and hard in a second flat.

Sully… Luna thought silently as she fixed her gaze on a spot only she could see for a few seconds. Then she shook her head and looked at Susana.

“Call Mrs. Müller. Tell her that I’ll have lunch with her at two o’clock. And if that ‘weird guy’ calls again, tell him that I’m not working here anymore.” Luna said coldly, turning her attention to the computer screen.

Susana gasped, shocked by the tone of Luna’s voice and nodded ‘yes’ eagerly. She had never seen Luna acting so cold before, ever. So without a second thought, Susana left Luna’s office, hurrying her steps, closing the door at her back. Then she sighed hard and headed towards her desk.

Susana called Mrs. Muller’s assistant and confirmed the lunch. Then she laid the tabloid on the table, turning the pages, not really paying too much attention.

As she was turning them she was silently talking to herself.

Royal Wedding. Advertising. Famous actress caught at the beach. Advertising. Jet Set Parties in Marbella. Advertising. International Section. Advertising. Beauty. Advertising.

Susana froze, shaking her head wildly and turned back some pages until she stopped at the International Section. Her eyes opened wide, causing her brows to arch almost touching her hairline and her mouth hung open wide.

“Holy Shit!” She exclaimed in amusement, completely shocked.

At that moment, Luis was entering the office and saw Susana’s shock. He frowned, deeply and narrowed his eyes.

“What’s the matter, Susi?” He asked, slightly concerned.

Susana didn’t answer him instead she continued fixing her gaze on the page in front of her. She then raised her head, pointing to the page with her finger, tapping on one picture wildly.

Luis turned the tabloid around to have a better look at whatever had caused such an effect on Susana.

Luis fixed his gaze on the page and his eyes opened wide in shock. “Fuck!” He exclaimed, looking back and forth between Susana and the picture. Then they locked eyes and exploded, laughing hard at once.

Luna heard them laughing at the top of their lungs from her office. An unconscious smile graced her lips. She stood and headed toward them to know what was happening.

As she walked through the hallway she saw them murmuring and grinning like loonies at something that was on Susana’s desk. Luna rolled her eyes, shaking her head.

“Hey! Nobody is working today or what?” She teased them, crossing her arms over her chest, pretending to be mad. She glanced at the tabloid from the corner of her eyes. “What’s so funny, kids?” Luna asked, not really seeing the printed picture.

In response, they looked at her as if Luna had grown a second head. Luna narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

“Now what?” She asked, arching a brow.

Susana picked up the tabloid and gave it to Luna. In response, she rolled her eyes, and then fixed her gaze on the page.

In one second flat, her grin died on her lips and her heart stopped dead, just to start racing wildly.

In front of her eyes there was a picture of Vin and herself. It was one of the pictures that the photographers had taken at their arrival at Cha-Cha-Cha.

Luna stared at the picture feeling an invisible knot quickly closing her throat. In the picture they were staring at each others eyes, hand in hand. Just a glance at them and anyone would be able to see what they were feeling at that very moment.

Luna swallowed hard and read silently the paragraph that had been added at the bottom of the picture, chewing her lower lip.

The actor Vin Diesel is one of those people who spend as much time clubbing as breathing. On this occasion the most famous baldy chose a beautiful woman to share the night at Cha-Cha-Cha. The rumors say she spent a whole week at his place. Maybe this time one woman will be able to retire him from the market.”

Luna stood frozen, staring at the picture. Her vision blurred slightly with unshed tears. She blinked furiously, looking down and then cleared her throat, swallowing that invisible knot.

“That’s not me.” Luna answered coldly, lifting her head to look at Luis and Susana.

When they continued staring at her as if she had grown a second head, Luna turned on her heels and shut her eyes tightly, forcing back tears.

“It’s a trick picture.” She muttered through clenched teeth. Susana shook her head and looked at her puzzled.

“But…but, Luna…we were together shopping and I saw that dress. I…I told you that you looked stunning in it and I remember that I had to practically force you to buy it.” Susana said softly, narrowing her eyes. Luna shut her eyes tightly, rubbing her little scar over her tank top. Susana took a deep breath. “You have met Vin Diesel. Why didn’t you tell us anything?” Susana asked shyly.

“Yeah!” Luis said. “You’re hot as hell in that pic, babydoll. Was he a good lay?” Luis asked, grinning wickedly.

Luna turned so fast on her heels that both of them moved backwards. She fixed them with a gaze full of banked anger that froze their grins.

“No fucking comment.” Luna muttered in disgust. Then she turned again and headed toward her office with the tabloid gripped tightly in her hand. “Enough prattle for one day.” She threw over her shoulder at them as she entered her office, slamming the door closed.

Luis and Susana cringed at the sound of the door slamming and looked at each other, completely puzzled.

Luna collapsed onto her chair and left the tabloid on her desk. Staring at Vin’s face, Luna brought a hand to the picture and she stroked his cheek gently. After a long moment, she looked at her empty ring finger.

There’s no turning back, sugar, the voice inside of her head said softly. No more tears for him, Luna, the voice added.

Luna grabbed the page and tore the paper apart, throwing the tabloid against the wall. She then closed her hand into fists so tightly that her knuckles turned white, and fixing her gaze in a spot only she could see she felt silent tears rolling down.

A long moment later, Luna opened her hand and found the crumpled paper inside of her palm. She heaved a hard sigh and threw it inside the basket. After that, she stood, cleared her desk and headed toward Susana’s desk.

“Call Mrs. Müller. I’m not going to lunch with her. See you tomorrow.” Luna said coldly, as she continued walking to the door without stopping.

Susana snapped her head up, gasping. It was the first time in years that Luna had cancelled an appointment with Mrs. Müller. Susana narrowed her eyes in suspicion and after a moment, she picked up the phone and called Mrs. Müller’s assistant.

M had been married twenty years to a rich merchant who had died prematurely five years ago after a heart attack. He had left absolutely everything he had to M. Part of her fortune consisted of properties spread around Europe. M made Luna promise that when the time came; Luna would go with her to help her get rid of those houses.

Luna and M met five years ago, shortly after M’s husband died and she moved to the south of Spain. M bought a large piece of land and Luna’s firm was charged with the architectural project of M’s house. They started to spend many hours together with the interior design and they ended up being more than just good friends.

Some Spanish tabloids published pictures of both of them. Not a big deal, but enough to make the people surrounding Luna start to ask if it was true that she had met Vin Diesel. Even several of those same tabloids contacted her, trying to confirm the rumors about their week together.

Luna always gave the same answer to everybody with no exception at all: “No comment”.

After a few weeks her family and friends gave up and the tabloids left Luna’s pictures inside a drawer, waiting for better times to continue with their task.

At the end, Spain was full of famous as well as unknown people without scruples that were more than ready to sell their lives at whatever price.

Luna and M were sitting at M’s large terrace in front of the large garden filled with big trees.

“Well, kid.” M said grinning. “You can’t say anymore that you never look good in pictures.” M added, laughing softly as she picked up a piece of a chocolate bar staring at a picture of Vin and Luna walking with Roman.

Luna rolled her eyes. “That’s maybe because I had no damn clue those fuckers were taking pictures of us.” She hissed, frowning deeply. M narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

“Oh, come on, Gemini. Be honest with me.” M said grinning wickedly. “In some dark place hidden inside your soul you’re more than happy because your picture is printed in a magazine.” M teased her, waggling her brows.

Luna grunted as she rolled her eyes. “Fuck you, M.” She retorted, but she couldn’t help that a slight grin graced her lips.

M laughed harder and picked up the last piece of chocolate, then fixed Luna with a devilish expression written all over her face.

“Now you’re famous too.” M teased, picking up a pen from the table in front of them. “May I have your autograph, please?” She joked, grinning. Luna jumped to her feet.

“Autograph!” She exclaimed, as she rushed to her note book. M looked at her puzzled. “Oh, my God! I forgot completely!” Luna added, searching between the pages. M frowned deeply as she stared at Luna’s back. “Here.” Luna said as she turned around, giving M a napkin. She took it, looking at Luna in puzzlement. “My gift for you. From my holidays.” Luna explained, as she took a seat again in front of M.

M looked at the napkin and read aloud. “M, we will live our passionate love only in our dreams. Thanks for being my number one fan. Call me when you come to LA. I’ll be waiting.”

At the bottom, Brad Pitt’s cell phone number was flashing at M as well as his autograph.

M laughed hard as she looked at Luna.

“I love you, kid. I love you with all my heart. Thank you, honey.” M said grinning from ear to ear, then went to pick up another piece of chocolate and realized that there weren’t any more. “Aw, shit. Please, Luna. Why don’t you get us another tablet of chocolate from the kitchen?” M asked, gently tracing the numbers of Brad Pitt’s cell phone with the tip of her fingers. “And after that you’re going to have to explain to me why my beloved Brad added his cell phone number and two lines for you on my autograph, kid.” M added as she looked at Luna through narrowed eyes, pretending to be annoyed.

Luna chuckled at M’s words and stood. “Remember, M. One whole tablet is equal to a fuck. You have eaten two tablets, so you have fucked twice in less than one hour.” Luna joked, heading towards the kitchen.

M laughed hard. “I know someone who’s personal record is six during one night, so don’t make me talk, Gemini.” M teased. Luna rolled her eyes laughing with her.

A moment later, Luna came back with two more tablets of chocolate and relaxed, comfortable in the armchair in front of M.

“Don’t forget this, babe.” Luna said as she opened one of them. “One second in your mouth, the rest of your life on your hips.” She mocked as she took a bite of the tablet, grinning.

“Now, now. Tell me about this shit.” M said grinning. “And don’t leave out any detail.” She added as she snatched the chocolate from Luna’s hands. In response, Luna yelped in surprise, laughing hard.

“Ok. I’ll tell you, but after that I’m probably going to have to kill you.” Luna mocked as she grinned evilly.

M laughed even more as she got comfortable in her armchair. “Yeah, yeah, whatever, now spill, Gemini and don’t leave any detail out.” M replied, winking at her. Luna sighed hard and smiled sadly.

“Well, I had been dancing with Valentino all night and I had been drinking tequila and other shots non-stop because I was pissed as hell with Mark. And suddenly I saw Pitt and I said to myself…

Los Angeles. Vin.

The shooting of TCOR had finished a couple of weeks ago and Vin Diesel had returned to LA where the postproduction had started almost immediately. The project had attracted much more attention than the Studio had expected at the beginning. Everybody was waiting eagerly to watch the sequel to “Pitch Black”.

Every time someone published something about the movie, almost immediately they started to look for Vin Diesel to ask him about the project and of course about the mysterious woman.

At this point the only thing that they had discovered was that she was from Spain and that her name was Luna.

In each and every single interview Vin Diesel gave someone asked about her. If they were dating. If they were going to marry. If she was the woman of his dreams.

Vin Diesel smiled politely, answering he was too busy right now to be involved in a relationship, adding he was in love with his job.

Vin spent all his time with Val. According to the promotion of the movie they spent almost every night clubbing around LA and NY. They also appeared at each and every new movie premiere, using the occasion to speak about TCOR.

Vin Diesel arrived always alone or with Valentino and even sometimes with other bodyguards.

He always smiled from ear to ear, posing for pictures like a professional with models, actresses and unknown chicks. Always smiling; always teasing and making jokes. But when they were alone, Vin’s sad eyes looked at Val sighing deeply, showing his anger and pain.

Vin never spoke again about Luna, ever. He even started acting as if he never had met her at all; as if he had never made love to her; as if he had never danced with her; as if she had never crossed his path; as if Luna wasn’t a real woman.

However, Valentino knew full well that Luna was real. So real that Val was completely sure that almost everything around Vin was a constant reminder of her existence, and not only when he was at home.

Each time Vin heard someone speak in Spanish, every time he was listening to salsa music and even each time that Roman refused to eat because even the big Italian mastiff missed her. Just the tiniest detail could remind him of Luna.

Valentino was so frustrated and mad that he started to try and convince Vin to call her and talk to her. But every time that Val pronounced Luna’s name, he was regarded with a glance full of anger on the part of Vin.

Sometimes Vin just pretended that he hadn’t paid attention to Val’s words and even on one occasion Vin started to yell at Val completely out of his mind. So Valentino stopped talking about Luna and pretended that she had never existed in Vin’s life.

Nevertheless, Valentino Morales believed in Fate and he couldn’t help but curse it because Fate had been playing dirty with Vin and Luna. It made them meet and had let them fall in love with each other, just to separate them one week later.

Valentino started to suspect that their fates had been to share just those days. Maybe at the end Vin and Luna weren’t soul mates. Honestly Val didn’t want to admit that painful possibility, but he had at least to consider it.

So, Val stuck with Vin as always, showing his support and love, waiting for Vin to be ready to open his heart to him. Val was sure that sooner or later Vin was going to break down, and he wanted to be at Vin’s side when that time came. So, Valentino kept his mouth shut and waited. At the end he always had been Vin’s best friend.

——————–

They both headed toward the entrance of the club surrounded by a small crowd of fans and paparazzi. Val was pushing the people slightly apart to allow Vin to walk through them. When they finally reached the door, the bouncers grinned and allowed them to come in.

They both went directly to the VIP’s zone and got comfortable on a big couch. Almost immediately four chicks appeared. It seemed that the bouncers had sent them to entertain Vin Diesel and his sexy and hot bodyguard Val Morales.

As soon as Vin laid eyes on them, he turned his head back and looked at Valentino, silently pleading with him to get rid of them. In response Val nodded ‘yes’ firmly and smiling he headed towards the girls.

“Sorry, beauties. Not tonight.” Val said gently as he blocked their path. The girls looked at Val as if he had grown a second head.

“What?” One of them retorted. “We’re not good enough for him?” She asked, slightly annoyed. Val rolled his eyes as he smiled.

“No babe. You’re all hot as hell.” He replied, giving them a fast once over. “Problem is, he’s a little tired tonight, that’s all.” Val added as he moved forward a couple of steps, urging them to move back.

“We can make him feel better. I’m the queen of blowjobs.” A second purred seductively as she licked her lips slowly.

“Come on, Val. Let us take care of both of you.” A third chick said, moving forward and tracing Val’s pecs through the fabric of his tight t-shirt.

At the sound of her words, Vin shut his eyes tightly, sighing hard. The queen of blowjobs? My ass!! His mind retorted and Vin couldn’t help but let a slight grin grace his lips.

Who would want to have a queen blowing him when he had met no less than the Goddess herself?

Vin chuckled at his own thoughts and took a sip from his drink, ignoring the girls and Val.

After a long moment arguing with the girls, Valentino finally got rid of them and returned to Vin’s side, but not before he glared at the bouncers to make it clear not to send any more girls to the VIP’s zone tonight.

“Tell me again, bro. ‘Cause I sure as hell have no clue.” Val said as he held Vin’s gaze.

Vin rolled his eyes. “I’m not in the mood, okay?” Vin replied, looking away from Val’s intense gaze. In response, Val narrowed his eyes in suspicion.

“Ok. Then tell me something, bro. What the fuck are we doing here?” Val retorted, as he stood, pretending to be annoyed with Vin. Vin snapped his head up and looked at him, frowning deeply. “Let’s play Xbox. I’ve got a new game.” Val said, grinning. Immediately, Vin’s face lit up slightly.

“I’m gonna beat your ass, Val.” Vin said as he stood. Valentino rolled his eyes, laughing hard.

“Whatever, Vincent. But we’re not gonna play ‘Escape from Butcher Bay’.” Val retorted and moved ahead of Vin to guide him to the entrance.

When they both reached the street they were laughing hard, teasing each other and making jokes about who was better player.

“No chicks tonight, Mr. Diesel?” One of the bouncers asked arching a brow.

“No man. Tonight just me and my bro.” Vin retorted tapping Val’s shoulder.
