Black Star 19

Luna headed toward the bedroom and dressed in a small turquoise bikini, then put her hair in a ponytail. She picked up her cell phone; she went directly to the swimming pool.

On her way to the garden, Luna made a stop in the kitchen to pick up a diet coke and a magazine that Rosa had lent her.

Once she was in the garden, Luna picked a big towel and lay under the sun. Roman barked loudly and lay at her feet. They didn’t want to disturb the women while they were cleaning.

Afterward, Luna glanced at her chrono and phoned M, immediately the voice of M greeted her. “At last!” M exclaimed smiling broadly. Luna laughed hard.

“M, I love you woman!” Luna exclaimed as she petted Roman’s head. In response, M laughed hard with her.

“I know, kid. I know. Tell me, where is he?” M asked and took a deep breath, waiting for Luna to tell her.

Luna grinned. “Mark is having lunch with his manager. I think he’ll be back in a few hours.” She explained to M as she got comfortable on the hammock. “Roman, his puppy, and I are laying under the sun around his swimming pool at his house.” Luna added as her grin widened.

In response, M grinned as she let out the air she had been holding.

“Have you been a good girl, Gemini?” M asked and couldn’t help but frown slightly.

Luna smiled broadly. “Yes, M. I’ve been a very good girl. You would be proud of me if you could see me now.” Luna answered as she laughed. M mimicked her and heaved a hard sigh.

“Good. Now listen to me and pay attention, ok?” M said, her voice sounded serious.

Luna stiffened slightly on her seat, frowning slightly. M’s tone of voice told her that she was about to listen something serious.

“I’m listening.” Luna said as she started to chew her lower lip.

M laughed silently. She knew full well that Luna was at that very moment scared to death, so she took a deep breath and spoke in a gentle tone of voice.

“Luna, you know that I’m a little crazy and that almost everybody thinks that I’m a weird and bizarre woman, but I have something important to tell you.” M said seriously.

Luna nodded ‘yes’ even though she new that M couldn’t see her. M sighed deeply and elaborated.

“I saw you and you were walking along a beach. And you had on your hands a star.” M cut herself off and waited a few seconds. Luna frowned deeply.

It wasn’t the first time that M had told her those kinds of things, like messages full of mystery.

“A star?” Luna asked and felt her heart beating faster. M smiled, taking a deep breath.

“Yeah. A star. It’s strange, is it?” M said as she grinned.

Luna frowned, deeply lost in thought for a moment, and then she spoke.

“A starfish? Or a star from the sky?” Luna asked and she couldn’t help but her voice had a a hint of irony.

M arched a brow at the tone of her voice.

“Very funny, kid.” M retorted, as she frowned. “A star, Luna. Just a star.” M replied with a slight hint of annoyance in her voice.

Luna grinned at her tone of voice; she was always messing with M.

“Ok, ok. A star on my hands.” Luna rolled her eyes. “Why I’m not surprised?” She teased M. In response, M laughed hard.

“Well you already know me. You know the kind of things I’m seeing all the time.” M admitted, still smiling broadly. Luna laughed again as she stroked Roman’s back.

“Jesus, M! You and your mysterious messages.” Luna teased her as she thought for a second about M’s words, and then cleared her throat as she took a deep breath. “M? May I ask you something?” Luna said and her voice sounded strangely hoarse.

In response M arched her brows. “Anything, Luna.” She replied, frowning.

Luna remained in complete silence for a long moment, thinking if she should ask M or not.

“Come on, kid. I’m waiting.” M added, pressing her.

She knew full well that something was bothering Luna and she didn’t like a bit. Luna swallowed hard and cleared her throat.

“How could I know if I have found my soul mate?” Luna asked shyly. M arched a brow in surprise and after a second she was grinning from ear to ear.

M knew full well about what was Luna thinking; or it would be better to say who Luna was thinking about. M’s grin widened and she couldn’t help but fuck with Luna’s head a little.

“Well, it depends. Did you find him? Again?” M teased as she laughed.

Luna rolled her eyes and cursed herself silently just for daring to ask M such a thing.

“It was just a question, M.” Luna retorted, annoyed. M continued laughing hard. “Mierda, M! Don’t make fun of me, woman!” Luna exclaimed cursing silently.

M took a deep breath trying to catch her breath.

“Oh, Gemini. The world is full of your soul mates. Every time you meet a man you think he’s your soul mate, kid.” M teased as she laughed again. In response, Luna rolled her eyes.

“I…I think that now it’s different, M. Mark…” M cut her off.

“It’s always different for you, Luna.” M retorted.

Luna frowned deeply; she should have known better than to ask M those kinds of things.

“Your path has been set, Luna, and as soon as you’re ready, Fate will show you the right way. You will know it. Be patient, kid.” M explained as she smiled silently.

“Patient, huh?” Luna retorted coldly.

“Yeah, kid. Patient.” M added as she grinned. “That thing you are not, Gemini.” M joked as she laughed hard. Luna cursed silently.

“Why the fuck does everything need patience, M?” Luna asked, slightly annoyed. M laughed as she got to her feet.

“Listen, Gemini. I have to go. I’m going to a party tonight at the German Embassy and I’m already late. Remember, a star in your hand. Love you, Luna. Bye.” M said and hung up the phone without waiting for Luna’s reply.

Luna arched her brows in amusement. “Yeah, I love you too.” She replied but she was sure that M hadn’t heard her.

A star in my hand? Luna asked herself frowning deeply. M and her mysterious messages, she added and shook her head.

One hour later, Dolores, Carmela and Rosa came to tell Luna good-bye.

——————————-

Luna had been working on the reports for almost an hour completely focused when suddenly her cell phone rang.

Luna jumped slightly as she picked it up. ‘Unknown’ appeared on its little screen. Luna smiled silently as she answered directly.

“Did you miss me?” Luna asked smiling broadly.

“No.” Was Vin’s answer at the other side of the line. “I just called to know if Roman is ok and if you fed him.” Vin’s voice was cold and serious, but he was grinning like a damn fool.

Luna rolled her eyes as she stroked Roman’s head.

“Yeah, asshole. We had lunch together; we’ve been lying under the sun and we’ve been swimming in your swimming pool.” Luna explained evenly. Vin bit his lower lip to prevent a laugh from escaping his lips. “Afterward, Roman and I have been talking a lot about you though. You should know that your pet knows all your dirty secrets, Mark. You should think seriously about making him sign one of those confidential contracts of yours.” Luna laughed softly.

In response, Vin grinned as he rolled his eyes.

“I bet Roman tried to get in your pants.” Vin replied seriously, but he was fighting the whole time the urge to laugh at the top of his lungs.

Luna grinned playfully.

“I tried to resist myself, honestly I did. But he’s all charm and class and he is very persistent.” Luna said as she got comfortable on the couch. “I wonder who taught him.” Luna teased, laughing softly.

Vin licked his lips and smiled broadly, then cleared his throat.

“Listen, babydoll. Don’t let that pussy fool you because he’s a compulsive liar, you know? I already talked with his vet and he told me there’s no cure for that shit. Sad but true.”

Vin’s voice sounded so serious and cold that for a second Luna thought Vin wasn’t joking.

She then shook her head, staring at Roman through narrowed eyes. Roman got to his feet and licked Luna’s hand. She smiled broadly, petting his head tenderly.

“I’ll survive.” She replied, laughing.

Her heart was still beating fast. Vin knit a brow and stared at his cell phone. He then cleared his throat once more as he spoke.

“I’ll be back a little later than I thought. I’m going to buy something on the way, tell me what you want for dinner.” Vin said, as he felt his heart start to race inside of his chest.

Luna frowned deeply thinking about it.

“I’m not squeamish at all; you can feed me almost anything.” Luna mocked. In response, Vin did his best to not burst into hysterical laugher.

“I see.” He replied as he swallowed hard and cleared his throat again. “Luna?” Vin suddenly asked and his voice sounded as deep as the ocean itself. Luna bit her lip as she swallowed hard.

“That’s my name, Mark.” She murmured almost in a whisper feeling as if thousand butterflies were wildly fluttering inside her stomach.

Vin kept silent for a long moment. Then he swallowed hard and without warning he plunged on.

“I have missed you; I am missing you and I will miss you until I can see you, Luna.” He said and with that he hung up the phone without waiting for her reply.

Luna’s eyes almost popped out of her face at Vin’s words and his deep and sexy voice. Her heart jumped inside of her chest as she hung up her phone.

Vin shook his head and headed back to his manager’s office, grinning.

Luna went motionless thinking about Vin’s words for a long moment, looking at Roman who was looking at her with his head tilted to one side. Still lost in thought, Luna narrowed her eyes as an unconscious huge smile spread on her lips. Without a second thought, Luna stood and headed toward the bedroom; Roman at her side.

One hour later, Luna was getting into Vin’s SUV with Roman sitting at her side with his head outside the window, and she was crossing the iron gates in search of a shopping centre.

Those last words were worthy of a big surprise.
