Chapter 12
When they returned from their walk, Luna asked him if she could watch any of his movies. Vin frowned deeply and tried to change the subject. She stared at him, shocked when she saw how he blushed slightly; it seemed as if he was embarrassed. Luna grinned wickedly. If she had been blushing almost all the day, he could too. So she pushed him until he gave up and nodded ‘yes’.
They both headed to the salon and Vin pulled out a few DVD’s so she could choose which one she wanted to see. Luna’s eyes widened as soon as she saw the cover for XXX.
Luna arched a brow and narrowed her eyes suspiciously. She was sure he had said that almost all of his movies were action movies.
Vin rolled his eyes and told her that it had nothing to do with porn. Luna pouted and pretended that she was disappointed. Vin chuckled at that but his face had turned red. She tapped her fingers absently among the different DVDs until she picked up one. The title was “A Man Apart” aka Diablo.
They sat on the couch, and Vin had Luna in his arms, her head leaned against his chest. They had the fingers of one hand entwined. With his free hand, Vin was playing with Luna’s hair, while she was tracing slow, long circles with her free hand on his forearm. She asked him to leave the subtitles in English so that she would be able to follow the story line without missing any detail.
The story of a DEA agent who had lost his wife so tragically. His inner fight between his duty and his thirst for revenge overwhelmed Luna with emotions and feelings she didn’t know that she had in her.
Vin had seen his movies quite a few times, so he was more interested in Luna’s reaction. Surprisingly, Luna found herself teary eyed almost all of the time, until she could no longer force her tears back at the final scene when Sean Vetter was visiting his wife’s grave.
Luna was crying softly, silent tears rolling down her cheeks. Vin noticed and hugged her tightly against his chest, stroking her hair, soothing her without thinking about it.
Luna gave thanks to God silently because Vin wasn’t making fun of her, otherwise she would have died then and there with embarrassment.
When the screen turned black, Luna rose from the couch without saying a word. Vin frowned deeply and when he was going to ask her if she was ok, his cell phone rang.
Luna headed directly to the garden, but she couldn’t help but hear part of Vin’s conversation. It appeared that he was talking with Valentino.
When she reached the terrace, Luna continued walking until she stopped at the swimming pool and stood there; staring at a spot only she could see, lost in thought about the weekend’s events.
A moment later, Vin headed towards her and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw her wiping her eyes and sniffing silently.
He glanced at his chrono and grinned; the pool lights were on and Luna’s body was surrounded by a turquoise veil of light.
At this point of the weekend, Vin was sure about something, that was Luna’s favourite colour and he couldn’t help but think that it had been a long time since he had been aware of those kind of small details.
He just stood there staring at her for a long moment. Vin was sure that her mind was miles from here again and wondered what she was thinking about.
Shaking his head, he headed towards her, encircling her waist from behind and resting his chin on her shoulder.
“Where are you?” He murmured against her ear, breaking the silence around them. Luna heaved a hard sigh as she closed her eyes.
“Here.” She answered, taking a ragged breath.
Vin tightened his embrace, frowning deeply. Sure her body was here but her mind was far away, and he knew that full well.
“Tell me your opinion about the movie.” Vin said, concerned.
Suddenly it seemed to him that her review was as important for him as if she was a famous critic.
Luna shook her head and rubbed her eyes slightly, cleaning her tears. She then swallowed hard and smiled.
“That Sean was really sexy with his goatee. I love them though. If I have power over each and every man around the world, I’d order them to have a goatee.” Luna mocked, trying to ease the tension that suddenly had fallen over them like an invisible veil.
Vin chuckled as he pushed her body slightly. “Come on. I’m serious. Tell me your honest opinion. It means a lot to me.” He said, and he couldn’t help the hint of anguish in his voice.
Luna didn’t answer immediately; instead she frowned deeply, chewing her lower lip, thinking about her answer.
Suddenly, Vin wasn’t sure if he wanted to know her opinion about his performance anymore. When he was about to tell her that it really didn’t matter, Luna spoke.
“When I was a child, I was always dreaming about finding the perfect man to have a relationship with, you know? Like Sean and his wife. They were really in love. And…he loved her so much that it was almost painful. She…” Luna cut herself off.
From nowhere an invisible knot had closed her throat. She swallowed hard and cleared her throat.
Vin frowned deeply, he wasn’t expecting that kind of an answer; he expected more in the line of you’re a great amazing actor and I can’t understand why at this point you don’t have an Oscar in your salon.
Vin grinned at his own thought as he shook his head, trying to get rid of that idea. He cleared his throat then.
“They had the perfect marriage. But that kind of relationship is possible only in a movie, not in real life. Nobody is so perfect in real life. I…”
Luna cut him off. “I already know that, but I can’t help but think that you can meet someone special, someone unique. And after you met him, your life would never be the same again …” She trailed off and turned around to lock eyes with him. “Did you… I mean, have you ever met that woman?” Luna frowned as she cleared her throat, swallowing hard. “Have you ever felt so close to someone that you would have been able to reach perfection? I…I mean that you wouldn’t be able to live a normal life again without her?” She asked him as her eyes flickered to his.
“No.” Was Vin’s honest answer. “You?” He added as his eyes stared at Luna’s green eyes.
Suddenly Luna was aware about what she had said and shrugged her shoulders. Then she smiled broadly and tiptoeing on her feet, she kissed him. Vin kissed her back. When they parted lips, Luna grinned.
“That swimming pool of yours is screaming to be tested.” She said as her smile turned devilish. Vin narrowed his eyes as an idea crossed his mind.
Without a second thought, Vin picked her up from the ground and jumped into the water with her still in his arms. Luna yelped and tried to release herself from his arms, but Vin held her tightly. Finally, she could get free and swam directly to the stairs. Vin followed and tried to grab an ankle, but she gave him a kick and continued swimming to the stone stairs.
When Luna reached them, she turned around and sat, laughing. Vin was at her side a few seconds later, but Luna started to splash water into his face, laughing so hard that her lungs were starting to feel the lack of oxygen.
Vin finally, grabbed her wrists and pulled her to him, capturing her lips in a demanding kiss. Luna broke the kiss.
“You’re an asshole, you know?” She said, trying to catch her breath after the hard laughs, releasing her wrists.
“You’re a bad loser, babydoll.” Vin teased her as he tried to kiss her again.
Luna avoided his lips and splashed him with water. Vin blinked furiously as he stared at her through narrowed eyes.
“Luna.” His voice sounded serious. “You’re playing with fire.” He warned her, trying to grab her wrists again.
Luna’s laughter died on her lips as she grabbed his head and pulled him to her, kissing him deeply. Vin joined in that kiss when suddenly he felt her teeth bite him.
“Shit.” Vin hissed, breaking the kiss. Luna grinned an evil smile, staring at his eyes.
“You are the one playing with fire, asshole. You don’t know shit about me.” Luna warned back as she laughed.
Vin lifted a hand to his lips and found a little spot of blood. He then looked at her shocked with a mix of disbelief, anger and lust.
“I’m not a woman to mess with, Mark.” She added, leaning forward, licking his lips, tasting his blood.
Vin chuckled as he grabbed her shoulders and pulled her to him almost violently. When she was about to say something, he dunked her under the water for a few seconds and then he released her.
When Luna emerged from under the water, she was shocked. Vin was laughing at the top of his lungs.
“Asshole!” She exclaimed. Immediately, Vin grabbed her shoulders as he again dunked her for a few seconds.
Luna was struggling under the water trying to release herself from his grip. Vin was laughing more and more every time she emerged from under the water.
Luna was starting to get mad at him. “Stop it, ok?” She cried out, but Vin was enjoying seeing her pissed off too much. So he did it a couple of more times. “I’m not kidding, Mark!” Luna shouted as she emerged from under the water. “STOP IT!” She yelled annoyed, trying to catch her breath.
“Make me.” Vin dared her, staring at her eyes.
Luna was panting and her heart was racing. She could felt adrenaline running wildly through her veins. She fixed him with a menacing gaze and then she laughed.
“I’ll do much more than that, asshole.” She teased as she grabbed the hem of her top. In seconds she had pulled off all of her clothes.
Vin grinned a devilish smile, mimicking her.
“Is that a promise?” He teased as she grabbed her waist, pulling her to him. Luna spread her legs and encircled his waist.
“Oh, yeah, baby.” She purred, pressing her body to his, capturing his lips once more as if she was starved.
